Advanced Technology Equipment

All equipment improves along with technology advancements. As technology improves weapons become more lethal, armor becomes more effective, and everything becomes smaller and lighter. 1st Generation equipment is found in the era of discovery and serves as the base standard for that equipment class. The technology level listed for equipment equates to the 1st generation “base technology” for that item. 2nd Generation represents the next iteration of evolution and normally occurs 2 technology levels (TL) above 1st Generation. 3rd Generation occurs 4 (TL) above the base.
4th Generation occurs 6 (TL) above the base. 5th Generation occurs 8+ TL above the base. Just because a world has the appropriate TL to support advanced technology equipment does not mean it is readily available for purchase. The best available technology will usually be husbanded by military or defensive organizations thus will not be publicly available on the open market. A TL 15 world, for example, may have TL 11-12 equipment available in some categories on the open market but would not sell their most advanced weaponry. Some items, such as most archaic weapons, do not evolve technologically and do not have multiple generation equivalents. Alien artifacts also exist which represent wholly unknown technologies in Imperial Space – these items are generally “one of a kind” and are unlikely to be replicated with much success.

Notes: Mod represents the reduction in size and increased sophistication allowing the item to be mounted on vehicles etc while occupying less space.

Notes: Mod represents the advanced capability to accept additional modifications over earlier TL versions. Equipment cannot accept modifications containing higher generation equipment. Lower generation equipment must be within two generations of the host.
